The new parish dedicated to Saint Teresa of Calcutta was consecrated and inaugurated on September 8 in Ruziba, Burundi, by the Archbishop of Bujumbura, Mgr. Gervais Banshimiyubusa, who entrusted it to the doctrinaries parish priest, Pierre Claver Gacumu.
The solemn mass of consecration presided over by the archbishop at 10:30 was attended by approximately 3000 faithful, the Superior General of the Congregation, Father Sergio La Pegna, together with other Doctrinaries brothers.
Present at the simple refreshment after the mass were the Minister of Health, Liduine Baradahana, who brought greetings from the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, and the Minister of Trade Marie Chantal Nijimbere.
