Patronal feast on Sunday 1st December, the First of Advent, to also celebrate Saint Andrew the Apostle, whose liturgical feast falls on 30th November, in the parish entrusted to the Doctrinaries on Cassia, in Rome.
The theme of the day – in this jubilee year – “in the streets of Hope”, to underline the desire to meet again, to note the vitality of many parish groups, – well presented also with panels and a video –, to get to know the “new arrivals”, to encourage each other in the commitment to live and witness faith, hope and charity. And so it was, with satisfaction and appreciation of all.
Father Sergio La Pegna, Superior General of the Doctrinaries, presided over the concelebration at 11:30, animated by the contribution of several parishioners.
At the end of the service, a moment of prayer in the small sports field, around the icon of Saint Andrew. Couples of children, young people, adults, grandparents and religious people lit a candle, a sign of everyone’s entrustment to the intercession of the Apostle.
The community lunch in the parish premises – served by Caritas volunteers and the older members of the Agesci Roma 20 group, while the Youth Group for Sant’Andrea animated games and workshops for the little ones – allowed adults to meet and get to know each other better.
After lunch, other volunteers hosted a tombola, with quality prizes that were much appreciated by the lucky winners.
The commitment of many has made this celebration a further starting point and a point of Hope for all.
