On March 26, the perpetually professed Doctrinarie Martin Xalxo received the ministry of acolyte during the 7:00 pm mass at Santa Maria in Monticelli in Rome.
On the day after the Solemnity of the Annunciation, Father Sergio La Pegna, Superior General of the Doctrinaries, invited his brothers to entrust the Congregation to Mary in a special way.
Father La Pegna recalled that «according to the experience of the Founder and the tradition of the Congregation, we are invited to look at Mary “in her attitude of prayerful reader of Scripture”. As a Mother, who at the moment of the Annunciation receives the Word made flesh in her womb, the Virgin Mary shows us the way of welcoming the Word. As a Mother who “stood beneath the Cross”, she teaches us the way of closeness to Christ who continues to suffer in so many brothers and sisters. An affection and filial devotion towards the Virgin Mary is inherent in the doctrinal vocation, in particular with the titles of Annunciation and Sorrowful. She also shows us the attitudes to maintain on our journey of consecration: prayerful listening to the Word of God, fortitude in times of trial and closeness to brothers and sisters, especially those who suffer».
